When I left Northern Ireland as an eighteen year old to study Illustration at Brighton Art College, I had completely underestimated how much I would miss my home landscape and its subtle influences. Instead of becoming a social satirist as I had imagined, I delved into a depth of emotional connection with a walked-over world I didn’t realize I cared so much about.
There are many paintings of the same places at different times of year, different lights, different weather conditions, and different seasons. . Even though I travelled then through spectacular sights in Europe and America, and in recent times through Australia and Asia, it has never really been a question of the response of my eyes but of my heart. The world I was taken through as a child with my siblings on long walks has been indelibly etched upon my psyche.
The archived images chart paintings from the first fifteen years of my exhibiting life and many of these have been digitally remastered. I have no records of many works, and I have archived them in terms of location rather than by date of creation.
All works are available as signed limited edition Giclee A4 prints.
